The brief
Nobody browses for a plumber. They search for one with a bucket under the sink, and whoever is easiest to contact in the next minute gets the job.
That makes the usual brochure structure — home, about, services, and a contact page three clicks away — actively harmful. Every click between the panic and the phone number is a chance to go back and try the next result.
The form is the hero
So the enquiry form doesn’t sit on a contact page. It sits in the hero, beside the headline, above the fold, on the first screen a visitor ever sees. Three fields: email, name, what’s wrong. The example text in the message box just says “My sink is leaking!” — which tells a worried homeowner exactly how little effort this is going to take.
Next to it, the phone number in plain sight: call, or email. Some people want to type at 11pm and some want to talk to a human right now, and the site doesn’t make either of them hunt.
Answering the objections before they’re asked
Letting a stranger into your home is a trust problem before it’s a plumbing problem. So the reasons to relax are on the homepage rather than buried in an About page nobody opens:
- Licensed and insured to Ontario College of Trades standards
- 24-hour emergency service — because the pipe doesn’t care what time it is
- A one-year warranty on the work
- Upfront pricing, quoted per job, with no hidden fees
That last one does the most work. “You’ll get a complete quote before we start” is the answer to the fear everybody actually has about tradespeople, and it’s said plainly instead of being implied.
Proof from real people
The testimonials are named, specific, and about the work rather than the vibe — a relocated toilet and shower drain, clay pipe replaced, an upstairs laundry room still leak-free eight years later. Several mention Jay by name.
Specific beats glowing. “No leaks in eight years” is worth more than five stars and a first initial.
The mark
We drew the logo as well as building the site. Two P’s, both made out of pipe — the front one a bent length with flanged ends, the one behind it carrying a tap and a single drip.
It’s a letterform and a diagram at once, and that’s the whole trick: you read “PP” before you notice the plumbing, and you notice the plumbing before you’ve finished reading. The forms are deliberately heavy. This mark spends its life on a van door seen at speed and on invoices printed in one colour, so there’s nothing fine enough in it to drop out.
Identity
The mark, and where it has to hold up.
