The brief

A cottage rental lives or dies on its photos and on answering the questions guests always ask before they enquire — what does it cost, what is there to do, and what are the rules. Anything left unanswered becomes an email.

The mark

We designed the logo as well as the site. A gold roundel holding a simple lantern, set against a deep forest green, with the name stacked beneath in a heavy condensed sans.

The constraint was that it has to survive being small and being printed — listing thumbnails, a road sign, a keyring on the guest keys — so it’s a solid badge with one silhouette rather than an illustration of the cottage. The green and gold then run through the whole site, which is why the header and the activity icons feel like one piece rather than a logo dropped onto a template.

What we built

A straightforward, fast marketing site organised around the questions rather than around the business:

  • The Cottage — a photo gallery doing the primary selling
  • Pricing and Recreation — the two questions that come before any booking
  • Rules & Information — set expectations up front
  • Family History and Guest Photos — the character a rental listing can’t carry
  • Contact — the enquiry form

Enquiries land straight in the owner’s inbox, with a spam filter in front of the form so that inbox stays worth reading — a rental listing that fills up with junk is one where a real booking gets missed.

The password the site uses to send that mail is kept on the server rather than inside the website, so the address can’t be turned into a spam relay in the cottage’s name.

Shipped

Live at lockviewpoint.com. Changes are reviewed on a private copy of the site first, so nothing untested ever appears in front of a guest mid-booking.

Identity

The mark, and where it has to hold up.

Let's build something.

A new site, or an old one that isn’t pulling its weight — either way, a conversation costs you nothing.

Tell me what you've got.

A new site, or an old one that isn't pulling its weight. I read every one of these myself.
