Web design in Niagara-on-the-Lake

Websites for businesses whose customers decide weeks before they arrive, from a couch in another province.

  • Local, not outsourced

Not a marketplace listing or an agency three time zones away. The phone reaches someone in the same time zone.

  • Fast on a phone

About a second on ordinary mobile data, where most people will actually see it — not four.

  • Yours outright

The site, the code, the domain and the accounts, in your name. No monthly fee to keep your own website online.

The decision is made long before anyone arrives

This is the opposite of the search happening ten minutes up the road in Niagara Falls. Someone planning a weekend here is deciding in October for a trip in May, sitting somewhere else entirely, with eleven tabs open and no particular loyalty to any of them.

Nothing about that visit has happened yet. They have not smelled the kitchen, walked the vineyard or seen the room. Every impression they form comes through a screen, weeks early — which makes the website less of a brochure and more of a preview of the thing being sold.

Where the site is the product

For a trade, a website that works is enough. For an inn, a winery or a dining room, the site is doing something harder: it has to look like the experience costs what it costs. A tired template undersells a room that is genuinely worth the rate, and visitors price the experience from what they see long before they read a word about it.

That puts unusual weight on photography and on restraint. Large images that load properly rather than crawling, type that is comfortable to read on a laptop at midnight, and enough space to let any of it breathe. It also means the site has to survive being beautiful — a page carrying twenty full-width photographs is a slow page unless someone has been careful about it.

Cheap is a different product

There is no shortage of thirty-dollar-a-month websites in this region, and for some businesses that is genuinely the right call. This is not one of those. A subscription site is rented: the monthly fee is not maintenance, it is permission to keep your own website online, and it stops being yours the moment you stop paying.

What is built here is bought once and owned outright — the site, the code, the domain, the accounts, in your name. If a business is charging premium rates for a premium experience, renting its shop window by the month is a strange place to economise.

Greg was an absolute pleasure working with while helping us design our fully Personalized website for our Short Term Rental… Highly recommended.

A new site, or an old one that isn't pulling its weight. I read every one of these myself.
